About the artwork / The inspiration
Reptiles and insects in the landscape of the Portuguese Alentejo have hidden colors , sometimes varying and depending on the time of the year. The chameleon and the snake take the landscape colors.
Artistic Techniques & Materials
Sand seaved on the canvas while the elements and details are drawn in the composition is a working method I often use to start the first steps. The variation with parts without the structure gives the painting the real tension I am looking for. The colors of the hot, dry summers in this region are neutralized by grey and blue-gray in the sky, but also in the slices, stones, and trees.
