About the artwork / The inspiration
Mycerinos was a pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt during the Old Kingdom and married with his sister Queen Khamerernebty II. The statue is surrounded by the presents, as the holy scarabee, the typical Egyptian vases, and the glasses of crystal.
Artistic Techniques & Materials
The composition of this triptych is based on the triangle of the pyramid; the pyramid of Mycerinos is the smallest of the three in Gizeh. The white triangle in front gives accent to the approaching couple in the mid panel. The presents are on the left and on the right panel. The scarab is painted in sandstrokes, giving accent to the amulet.
