About the artwork / The inspiration

Pergamon was a rich and powerful ancient Greek city in Aeolis and northwest of the modern city of Bergama, Turkey. During the Hellenistic period, it became the capital of the Kingdom of Pergamon in the Greek world. The wings of the Nike statue, the Greek goddess of victory, are aligned with the perspective of the ruin.

Artistic Techniques & Materials

The composition in this triptych is done in oil with sand structure. On the left panel another Nike is depicted,. The Nike of Rolls-Royce is in ecstasy because of the confrontation with the Goddess of Samothrace. The flight of the swallows in front gives an extra accent to the lines of the perspective.
