About the artwork / The inspiration
The Luxor Temple was a major religious center in Thebes, which was once the capital of Ancient Egypt. A lot of pharaohs added new buildings to the complex . The thousands of sandstone fragments contain the hieroglyphic texts and paintings of temple rituals, offering invaluable insight into the ancient past.
Artistic Techniques & Materials
The triptych, painted in oil with a sand structure, shows the most important details of the hieroglyphs in sandstone, even as important artefacts as monkeys and faraos in granite. The dynamic part of the triptych is the procession flight of the ibises, the holy stilts, often depicted on paintings and frescoes.
