About the artwork / The inspiration
Cerveteri is a town northwest of Rome, Italy. It is known for its well-preserved necropolis complex, once part of an Etruscan city. The Banditaccia Necropolis has artifacts like urns and vases. The famous ceramic pottery is most often painted with animals and hunting scenes.
Artistic Techniques & Materials
The vase, the plate and the water jug are painted in a realistic style and are the static part of this painting, partly in oil and partly in acrylic because of the sand structure. The dynamic part is the antelopes. The contrast in this painting is accentuated by the three sections, which transition from dark to light.
