Artistic Techniques & Materials To express this emotional dance, the warm colors have their nuances accentuated by the lower sand structure.  The staccato movements of the couple go on in the bandoneón of the world-famous Astor Piazzolla. Especially the tribes of the Navajo Indians in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, with their rituals expressed in music and dance, made it to realize on canvas. Artistic Techniques & Materials The Ritual Dance is expressed with oil paint in sand and grey pencil lines, giving accent to the swing and swirl of the young couple. The swirl in the traditional dress of the woman takes up a large part of the composition. The high jump of the man, even as the movements of his arms and legs give emphasis to the dynamic scene. Artistic Techniques & Materials The movements in this diptych are emphasized by the sand-painted shapes in neutral gray and blue-gray.
