The lizard is nearly hidden by the dark red and ochre colors. The upper part of the painting is a contrast because of the light surface and the fragile flies. Artistic Techniques & Materials The parts painted in oil in a realistic way had to be in contrast because of the rough sand structure. The chameleon and the snake take the landscape colors. Artistic Techniques & Materials Sand seaved on the canvas while the elements and details are drawn in the composition is a working method I often use to start the first steps. The variation with parts without the structure gives the painting the real tension I am looking for. Alentejan landscape with corkoak Format / Size 100 x 80 cm Technique mixed technique – oil and sandstructure with slices Year 2013 Category geography, nature Style Sand art / Textural art Status Original / Available Price 2.500 € About the artwork / The inspiration The view from the atelier on the typical landscape of the Alentejo. The corkoak, as a central part, and the dryness of the summer are mainly ochre and the red-brown of the cork. The colors of the hills vary from ochre to dark green. The white-painted houses are in a distance of kilometers from each other, and the roads are unpaved. Artistic Techniques & Materials For getting more contrast and tension , I created three different parts of atmospheric views. The darker stroke on the left side gives more accent to the shapes of the stones and slices and contrasts with the branches, while the central and right part are light and nearly transparent.
